Firstly, I download "My Fitness Pal" app. This was recommended to me by a friend who had lost weight using the app and going to the gym regularly (might I add she looks amazing!!) I find the app so helpful and easy to use. I would recommend it to anyone trying to lose a few pounds.
I had a baby in April 2012. Before I was pregnant I was 10 stone 3 pounds. That was my heaviest, EVER! Growing up I was always slim and could eat whatever I wanted but that all changed when I turned 18 haha. A few weeks into my pregnancy I was diagnosed with hyperemesis, which didnt allow me to keep down any food whatsoever! By my 6th month I weighed 8 stone 4 pounds. This sounds crazy.. But it's true. I had harper almost 3 weeks early, two days before I had her I was weighed in hospital as my weight and the babies weight were being monitored and I weighed 10 stone 1 pound. I was allowed home from hospital five days after I gave birth so I weighed myself at home and I was 9 stone 10 pounds. My weight stayed around 9.10 and 9.11 until I decided to eat healthier.
On day one of my eating healthy plan I cut out white bread, chips, potatoes, full fat butter, full fat mayo, regular coke, fry ups, oil and anything from the deep fryer or frying pan. I oven cook everything now. I also try to drink 4-6 glasses of water per day. When going my grocery shop I always take note of how many calories are in the product I'm buying and always make a list of what I need so I don't buy anything with a thousand calories in it haha.
This is a typical day for me:
Breakfast:
Toasted breakfast muffin- 110 cals
100g baked Heinz beans- 79 cals
Low low butter- 35 cals
Tea with low fat milk- 35 cals
Lunch:
Whole wheat pitta bread- 155 cals
50g spinach- 8 cals
1/3 bell peppers mixed- 16 cals
3 tbsp of chopped onion & tomato- 18 cals
1 slice of turkey- 19 cals
Dinner:
Southern fried chicken steak (oven cooked) - 285 cals
Mixed salad 4 tbsp- 40 cals
15 ml peri peri sauce- 24 cals
100g wicked wedges- 155 cals
Snack:
Tayto, snax- 88 cals.
Water intake:
4-6 glasses with fresh lemon slices.
I don't always eat healthy, when I do get a takeaway which is always at the weekends I tend to count it as my main meal. Before I would order with that "I don't care about the calories" kind of attitude. Now dont get me wrong I know there are lots of calories in every takeaway but I try to fit it into my calorie allowance and be a little more wise about what I chose.
I am not a person who is interested in working out or going to the gym. Most days if the weather is nice I take harper out in her buggy for a 30 minute walk. This is the most exercise I do.
So to end this I will tell you what I weigh now. I am now 8 stone 5 pounds. I never thought I would even lose half a stone. I know it's not a great deal of weight to lose but for someone who never have the motivation or will power to even try lose a pound (and if I did I'd reward myself with a massive Chinese). So this is the very first time I put my mind to it and stuck with it. Some days I fail miserably but hey a girls gotta live, right?
So in short, even if you want to lose 2 pounds or a stone, don't go too hard on yourself. I believe the longer it takes you to lose the weight the longer it will take for you to put it back on. And losing weight the healthy way is the best option, no fad diets! They might work short term but you want it to last for the long term. For your eating habits to change and live a healthier lifestyle all round! Just switch the bad stuff you eat to a more healthier version. Like I change white bread for whole wheat pitta breads. It's the small things that make a if difference. You will feel so much better in yourself and it comes with a little more confidence too.
Hope you enjoyed this read :) lots of love, Sarah xxx
